What a fantastic January and February we have had. We slow things down in the month of March and pick up hard again in April and May! All the volunteers here in Crossroads have gone above and beyond with a number of great events. Our first ever Paint Night in January was a resounding success with dozens of Crossroads faithful painting some wonderful canvases to adorn the walls in the neighbourhood. I suspect we may do one again very soon?
The February event calendar included our first Family Dance February 9th, Pub Night February 23rd and Scouts Pasta Night February 24th. As always, our neighbours supported these events with their time and their money. The Scouts have always put on a first-class Pasta night! I think they made “a few” bucks to help their programs and trips! Thank You to the hard-working Crossroads 36 Scouting group that make these programs happen for your Youth each year. There are SO MANY long-term leaders and volunteers in this program and we owe them all a debt of gratitude.
Join us in the hall each Wednesday for Drum Fun. Call 403 277 6201 for more info, you won’t be disappointed. March 9th is family movie night at 7pm at the hall. Join us with your blanket and enjoy some popcorn and a wonderful family movie. March 23rd is pub night. Stop by and meet your neighbours after 7pm and bring an instrument….. you never know when a song may break out?
Stay tuned to our social media and our April newsletter for another exciting new event. Our neighbourhood has become home to 5 Craft breweries and we are planning a Craft beer event at the hall with our new neighbours in April. Details coming soon! Watch Facebook and Twitter for the most up to date event info!
As I write this, your board is hard at work, starting a Crossroads Planning committee last month, ongoing maintenance projects and planning our summer events with many exciting possibilities. There is much excitement for the 50 plus residents to hear about the great programming we have in store for them. Reach out to us and help us keep Crossroads as the best community in Calgary. There is as much potential as there are days in the week. REMEMBER, “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” Join us, we’ll welcome you with a smile. Stay safe Crossroads.
