Hi Crossroads, happy July. Let’s pace ourselves on the pancakes! Eat Safe!

I would like to again encourage you to join us in September at our AGM. I will be going into my last year as President in September and look forward to turning it over to a great group of people with new ideas. Get involved now, have a say, be a part of the enthusiasm we all have for the best community in Calgary.

Our friends and collaborators at 12 Community Safety Initiative are putting on a 2 week basketball camp at the court at Vista Heights School in August. Players from St. Mary’s University join us to teach elementary aged girls and boys the finer points of hoops. After that wraps up we have our annual Summer Festival in the same area, on Saturday August 25th. LOTS for the little ones and their families in August in Vista Heights!

Back at our June meeting we spoke with the City Transportation department about pedestrian safety at 16th Avenue and 19th Street. We are also in discussion with the good folks at the City “Urban Strategies” program to work with us and all residents towards a Crossroads Development Plan. I hope to share our plans as we roll out some community sessions to get your opinion. Stay tuned!

We will be getting a Lawn Chair Theatre in September on the 22nd from 4-6pm at the hall. The event includes (2) 45-minute acts and city recreation staff on hand to lead the activities.  Stay Tuned and keep your eyes on our social media for the latest updates on the acts that will be performing. Our Community registration night for programs will be held at the hall September 5th, 6:30- 8:00 in the main hall.  Join us in our biggest fundraising effort of the year in volunteering for our Casino in September.  Call Tracey @ 403 277 6201 if you can help out!

Keep in touch Crossroads. Get to know your neighbours and your neighbourhood and stay safe! “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”  Join us!
